I was talking to my neighbor about how we find new music now
He said he still goes to the local record store in Spokane and just picks a random album off the shelf based on the cover art. I told him I just let my streaming app play stuff for me. He said that's how you get stuck in a loop of the same 20 songs. It made me think, am I really finding anything new if a computer picks it? How do you guys find new stuff without an app telling you what to like?

Honestly I find a ton of new music through my streaming app's radio feature. It plays songs by artists I've never heard based on one song I like, and I've discovered some of my favorite bands that way. The algorithm isn't perfect but it does dig deeper than just the top twenty hits if you give it a chance.

My algorithm just keeps suggesting the same three songs from 2006, maybe I should stop liking them so much?
