PSA: A contractor's old logbook showed me how to level my sagging shelves.
I was tearing out some kitchen cabinets and found a beat-up notebook behind them. It had daily notes from a guy who worked on the house in the 80s. One entry detailed how he shimmed shelves using cut up cardboard from cereal boxes. I tried it on my wonky bookcase with some thin wood scraps instead. It worked perfectly to make everything straight and sturdy. That little trick was way easier than buying new brackets. It's crazy what useful stuff gets left behind in old books.

Honestly that "useful stuff left behind" makes me want to hide my own tips for the next owner.

Discovered my dad's old wiring diagram that helped me fix a flickering light last week.
