Found a notebook in a coffee shop with a story about a missing dog

I was at The Daily Grind in Portland and found a small black notebook left on a table. Inside, someone had written a detailed account of searching for their lost beagle named Barney for three days. They described checking shelters, putting up 50 flyers, and a moment when a stranger at a bus stop said, 'I think I saw him near the old mill.' That specific detail, the old mill, made the whole thing feel real and sad. Has anyone else found a journal entry that pulled them into a stranger's life like that?

That "old mill" detail just feels like a writing exercise to me. Found notebooks are usually just grocery lists.

Right? What is it with that? I found one in a coat pocket last year and it was just "eggs, milk, bread" over and over for like ten pages. So boring.
