Warning: I just read a 2004 forum thread where a guy tried to host a server on a toaster
It was on some old tech board, and this dude in Austin was dead serious about using a modified smart toaster as a web server for his blog. He posted pics of the wires and everything. It actually ran for like 3 hours before it started smoking and set off his kitchen smoke alarm. The whole thread is just 15 pages of people asking 'why' and him getting mad. Makes you miss when the internet was just weird projects that went wrong. Anyone else find an old thread that was just pure, confused chaos?

Honestly that kind of chaos feels like a lost art now. Everything online has to be optimized or turned into content, you know? Like people used to just do dumb stuff to see if it worked, and the fun was in the trying. Now you'd have to make a ten part TikTok series about the toaster server with brand deals. Maybe it's just me but the weird little failures made the internet feel more human.
