That guy who told me to clean my Nikon's mirror box with a Q-tip was dead wrong
I had a speck of dust on my D90's viewfinder last summer and some random on a photography forum said to just use a cotton swab. I did it gently and now there's a scratch right across the mirror that I can't unsee. Anyone else get burned by bad camera maintenance advice from strangers online?

Oh man, I feel your pain! I had to buy a whole new camera body after ruining my old one by blowing too hard into the sensor well and damaging the shutter.
