Stumbled on an old forum post from 2004 about battery life predictions

Some guy claimed lithium batteries would make gas stations obsolete by 2015... I found it on a dead tech forum archive and it's wild how wrong he was. Has anyone else dug up old predictions that aged like milk?

My cousin bought a flip phone in 2014 because he was sure smartphones were a fad that would die out by 2015. I still remind him about it every time I see him pull out his iPhone to look something up. The tech industry is full of these predictions that just totally miss the mark, @grace565. Its funny how certain companies and experts keep making these bold claims about things becoming obsolete.
