Our new fridge died two days after we moved in

It just stopped cooling completely, and the repair guy said the compressor went. We had to throw out about $150 worth of groceries. Has anyone else had a major appliance fail right after closing?

My mom's fridge died after six months, @betty126. It feels like everything is built to break right after the warranty ends. What are we even paying for anymore?

Oh man, that's brutal @bell.evan, same thing happened to my washing machine the week we moved into our first house. Water everywhere, had to replace the whole drum assembly after like four loads. Your mom's fridge story is just adding to my suspicion that appliances are cursed for new homeowners. My neighbor's dishwasher gave out after two weeks too, so either we're all unlucky or they're making them worse on purpose.
