Our closing day party got crashed by the previous owner's cat

We closed on our first home a week ago. To mark the day, we asked a few pals to come over. While everyone chatted, a cat strutted in through the back door. This cat belonged to the old owners, named Mittens. She acted like the house still belonged to her. We had to phone the past owners, who drove right back. In the end, Mittens went home, and we all shared a good laugh.

The cat acting like the house still belonged to her is the most cat thing ever. They have a way of claiming places long after they've left. I guess Mittens didn't get the memo about the new owners.

Yeah, that sort of thing always gets me... it's sweet but really sad, you know? Animals don't get what's going on when a home changes hands. My friend's dog did something similar, kept trying to go back to their old apartment for weeks. Makes you feel for them, even when it's a funny situation like your party. Glad it all worked out and everyone could laugh about it.
