Warning: A squirrel family moved into my trench and refused to leave.

I was digging a trench for a new fence line, and a family of squirrels decided it was their new home. Every time I tried to shoo them away, they'd just chatter and bury more nuts. Has anyone else had wildlife hold up their job?

Ever try to move them to a better spot? I had a standoff with a groundhog under my shed once. You can't argue with an animal that has nowhere else to go. Sometimes you just have to pause the work and let them settle down on their own. They are stubborn little things.

What did you end up doing with that groundhog? In my experience, trying to move them while they're dug in just makes them double down. I found putting a one-way exit door over their hole worked, so they could leave but not get back in. You just have to wait for a time of day you know they're out looking for food. It takes some patience, but it's better than a long standoff.

Honestly, it's just a groundhog, not a home invader.
