Rant: I saw a pigeon in Denver walk a perfect square on the sidewalk

I was waiting for the bus yesterday and watched this bird take exactly four left turns, making a neat box shape before it flew off. I looked it up later and apparently some birds do this to scan for food or predators from all directions... but it looked so deliberate. Has anyone else seen an animal do something that seemed weirdly planned out like that?

Nah, that's just a weird coincidence.

Oh wow, that's actually a thing! I read an article once about how some birds, especially pigeons, use set patterns like squares or circles to methodically check the ground for seeds. It's like their own little search grid program.
