That $40 steamer almost ruined my client's skin last Tuesday
I was doing a routine facial in my little studio in Austin when my cheap steamer started spitting out rusty water right onto her face. I caught it after like 5 seconds but she had some minor irritation that took a week to calm down. The unit was only 6 months old and I kept it clean, the inside metal just corroded anyway. Has anyone else had a steamer go bad on them mid-facial like that?

Yeah, I used to think cheap steamers were fine, but this story totally changed my mind.

@rubyj11 You're totally right to change your mind on that. I started with a cheap one too and thought I was being smart saving money but it's just not worth the risk when someone's face is on the line lol. The whole problem is those budget units use cheap metal parts that start corroding way faster than you'd expect. Like you can clean them religiously and they'll still rust from the inside out because the heating element is garbage. A few extra bucks for a stainless steel interior would save so many headaches and ruined facials. Glad you're thinking ahead about it because trust me that panicked feeling of rusty water hitting skin is not something you want to deal with mid-service.
