Chemical peels vs microdermabrasion for acne scarring - I'm team peel all the way

I've been doing both on clients for about 3 years now in my small studio in Portland. After tracking results on 20 clients with mild acne scarring, the peels won out every time. Microdermabrasion gave maybe 10% improvement after 6 sessions, but a series of 4 medium-depth peels showed 40-50% reduction in scar depth for most of them. Plus the downtime is shorter per visit, and you get that collagen remodelling that just doesn't happen with the crystal scrub. Has anyone else done side by side comparisons on their own clients?

Have you noticed better long term collagen results with peels compared to microdermabrasion?

Read a study from last year that tracked collagen production for 8 months post treatment. Peels kept increasing collagen the whole time. Microdermabrasion peaked at month 3 then dropped off. The deep chemical action triggers way more fibroblast activity under the scar tissue. That's the real game changer for lasting results. Surface treatments just don't reach deep enough to remodel the dermis properly.
