Can we talk about the new safety sensor bypass procedure?

I keep seeing guys in my shop, and even on a job in Denver last month, using a jumper wire to bypass the door zone sensor for testing without locking out the controller first. This is a huge deal because if the car moves while you're working, someone could get seriously hurt. Am I the only one who thinks we need to stop this shortcut completely?

Man, that story from daniels42 is rough. It reminds me of a time I saw a tech drop a wrench into a live battery terminal, just a total freak accident. Makes you wonder what other shortcuts we're all taking without even thinking.

Your point about the jumper wire shortcut is dead on. A buddy of mine saw a guy get his arm pinned because a car lurched forward after a sensor bypass. The guy was just trying to save a few minutes on a diagnostic and ended up in the ER. It's not worth the risk at all.
