Serious question about the local rush for home generators

I've noticed a bunch of generator installs in my neighborhood this past month. It probably ties back to the increased power outages we've been having.

Seen a bunch of generator installs around my area too. It's wild how fast this trend picked up. Are folks mostly worried about long outages, or is there a bigger fear about the grid holding up? I know some people are scared of losing power for days during bad storms. What's the main reason driving your neighbors to spend that cash? Just trying to figure out if this is a panic buy or a smart move for the future.

Over on Maple Ave, there's been five installs since June. But @ericking, I mean, are we all just overreacting? Idk, maybe it's just me but the power's only gone out for an hour or two max.

You mentioned the trend picking up fast, and I get it. My own generator purchase last year felt a bit dramatic after the first short outage. Honestly, it's just peace of mind for that one time the lights stay off for a week.
