Picked a $20 Klein voltage tester over my usual Fluke T+Pro for a service call in Atlanta yesterday

It got the job done but I couldnt tell if the line was actually dead or if the tester was just cheap, has anyone else had a budget tool fail them at a bad time?

Picked a cheap tester once and it lied to me so now I trust my gut more than the tool.

Used to be team gut all the way. @blair_davis50 But then I kept second-guessing my own readings. Grabbed a mid-range tester after a few bad calls. Totally changed my mind. Cheap ones are just junk. A decent tool worth the investment saved me from some dumb mistakes.
