Has anyone else fished wire through a finished wall with a glow rod and realized a vacuum and string works way better?
I was pulling two 14/2 runs through a finished basement ceiling last week and after 45 minutes of fighting with rods I tried taping a string to a shop vac hose and had both wires through the joist bay in under 10 minutes but some guys at supply house said I'm taking shortcuts that'll cause problems down the line, what's your take on the vacuum method versus traditional fishing?

Man the vacuum trick is a GAME CHANGER once you figure it out. I had a similar deal fishing speaker wire through an attic, spent an hour cussing at fiberglass rods, then taped a string to the hose and had it done in one pull. Those supply house guys probably never tried it, or they're just mad they didn't think of it first.

@eric_johnson Ever tried the reverse with a shop vac for pulling Cat5 through conduit?
