That viral 'alien mummy' from Peru last month was just a doll glued together with animal bones

I saw the whole thing unfold in real time on Twitter. Last week some 'scientists' were parading a tiny mummy around saying it was non-human but then 3 years ago the same guy was caught with a similar hoax. How do people still fall for this stuff? Has anyone actually looked at the CT scans they released or just the press headlines?

Rule number one with this stuff: always check who did the CT scans. If it's the same people claiming it's alien, their scans are worthless.

Learned that one the hard way with a "mysterious" mummy someone tried to sell me. Turned out the CT scans were done by a buddy of the guy selling it and surprise surprise, the scans showed nothing conclusive. Now I always look at the metadata on the scans first thing to see who actually ran them and when. If the equipment isn't listed or the dates don't match up, I'm out. Gets real obvious real fast who's padding their story.
