Found out my town's library has a subscription to a database of weird old newspapers
I was killing time while my car got an oil change and stumbled on this thing called NewspaperArchive through the library's website in Omaha. Turns out they have scanned issues of a 1970s local newsletter called "The Pest" that was just one guy ranting about his neighbors' lawn decor. It's hilarious and I spent two hours reading about someone losing it over a plastic flamingo. Anyone else find a weird local archive like this?

Plastic flamingo beef sounds like peak 1970s content.

Dude that's gold, plastic flamingo drama is exactly the kind of petty nonsense I live for. I found something similar in my town's archive, this old newsletter from the 80s called "The Gutter Press" where some guy just ranted about people who parked their boats in their driveway. He had like a 10 issue feud with a neighbor over a broken down station wagon, it was pure ridiculousness. Libraries really be sitting on hidden gems of absolute chaos, love that you shared this.
