PSA: My whole mud mixing setup failed on a big job last Thursday
I was doing a full basement finish in a new build, mixing a 5 gallon bucket of 45 minute mud. The drill chuck on my big mixer just gave out, the whole thing spun loose and flung mud everywhere. Had to stop everything, clean the walls, and run to the supply house for a new one, lost about 2 hours. Everyone swears by those heavy duty chucks but this is the second time I've had one fail on me in a year. What's a more reliable brand or setup you guys use for mixing bigger batches?

Ever try a corded drill with a hex drive mixer? I had chuck problems too and switched to a Milwaukee hole hawg with a mixing paddle that locks right into the hex... that thing has never come loose on me, even mixing full buckets of thick mud.

Man, @umasullivan, that hole hawg sounds like overkill for most jobs lol. A good cordless drill with a tight chuck has never failed me, even with thick stuff. Just gotta make sure it's locked in right.
