Faced with cutting corners for a fast paycheck
My buddy wanted to skim coat over old tape cracks instead of fixing them right. I said no, because that hack job always fails later. Lost the job, but kept my rep clean.

I actually used to take those jobs when I was younger and needed the cash. You learn pretty quick that the callback is never worth it, dealing with an angry client when it all cracks again. Watching a few of those fast jobs fall apart changed my whole view. Now losing the bid feels better than knowing I left a problem in someone's wall.

Exactly right @blake83, the headache later kills you. Always price your bid to do it right the first time.
