Got roasted for my old-school dimensioning style on a set of shop drawings

A senior checker at my old firm, Bob, pulled me aside after a review and said, 'Kid, your chain dimensioning is a nightmare for the fabricator. You're making them add up six numbers to find a single hole location.' He was right, I was just doing it how I was taught. The next job, I switched to baseline dimensioning from a single grid line for all the steel connections. It took a bit longer to set up, but the shop didn't call with a single question. Anyone else have a piece of feedback that completely flipped your drafting method?

Bob saved you from math class on the shop floor.

Wait, you were taught to chain dimension? That's wild.
