My bathroom tiles fell off because I used the wrong glue.

I was putting up some ceramic tiles in my shower. I grabbed what I thought was waterproof adhesive from the garage. Two days later, half the tiles came loose and cracked on the floor. Turns out I used an indoor-only product that can't handle moisture.

Sometimes the glue type isn't the main issue. Proper installation needs a very clean surface and enough drying time. If the wall had any leftover old adhesive or wasn't flat, tiles will pop off. What did the back of the fallen tiles look like?

Yeah, that's a solid point about the wall prep. When you checked the backs, was there any adhesive stuck to them at all, or did they come off totally clean? If there's nothing on the tile, it means the bond failed right at the wall surface, which points to dust or maybe some kind of sealer that wasn't scraped off. A little leftover glue dust can ruin the whole grip.
