Caulk trick for baseboards changed my life last Sunday

Was doing baseboards in the guest room. Had that weird gap between floor and trim. Tried normal caulk lines. Looked terrible. Then I used painter's tape on both sides. Smoothed it with a wet finger. Peeled the tape off. Perfect line. No sanding. Took 45 minutes for the whole room. Anybody else got a dumb simple trick like that?

Man, I spent three weeks convincing myself that line was "character" before I finally gave in and fixed it... built the whole shelf over again.
