Working from a beach bar seemed cool until my laptop almost died from sand

Honestly, I thought I had the perfect setup at this beach bar in Mexico, with a view and a cold drink. Tbh, a gust of wind blew sand all over my keyboard and screen during a client presentation. Ngl, I had to keep typing while pretending nothing was wrong, but the keys got gritty and stuck. It was so awkward when I had to excuse myself to shake out my laptop, and my client heard waves in the background. Now I always check for covered spots or stay indoors when working near sand. This whole experience made me realize that some 'dream' work locations are just not practical. And honestly, it's a reminder that this lifestyle has more hiccups than people show online.

Oh my god! The part about your client hearing waves in the background is just wild. I can't imagine trying to keep a straight face while ocean sounds are leaking into a work call. That sand thing is bad enough, but adding beach noise to the mix? It totally ruins the 'I have my life together' vibe we try to show. This is why my dream of working from a hammock is probably staying a dream.

Right there with you and @oscarkelly about the nature noise! My attempt to work from a park last summer ended when a duck fight broke out right behind me during a team meeting. The quacking was so loud my boss asked if I was at a pond. Trying to act professional while your laptop is sliding off a picnic table is its own special kind of stress. It totally shatters that cool remote worker image you think you're projecting. Outdoor work always has some weird surprise, doesn't it? What was your closest call to a work-from-nature fail?

My balcony in Phoenix seemed perfect for calls until a hawk landed on the railing mid-presentation. I used to believe outdoor work was always calm, but that screech made me rethink everything. The bird stared right at my screen while I tried to explain quarterly reports. It's like your duck fight, nature just doesn't care about our meetings. Now I stick to indoors if there's any chance of wildlife interruptions.
