Why does every coworking spot in Chiang Mai close at 6 PM?
I've been hopping around different places here for the last 3 weeks and they all lock up super early. Even the ones that say they're open until 8 on Google maps actually kick you out by 6:30. I'm usually most productive after dinner, like 7 to 10 PM, so this is killing my workflow. Am I missing some hidden late night spots or is this just how it is in Thailand?

Ugh, I feel your pain on this! I mean, it's not just Chiang Mai either, I ran into the same thing in Bangkok and even a bit in Pai. Maybe it's a cultural thing where people just don't work late here, but it's super annoying when you're in the zone after dinner. Idk if there are any hidden spots, but I've started just going to cafes that have wifi and staying past their "closing time" since they don't seem to care as long as you keep buying drinks. It's not perfect, but it's what I've got.

Agree with you there. It's not just Thailand either, I've noticed this same pattern in smaller towns across Vietnam and Indonesia. There's this unspoken rule that after sunset, people want to be home with family, not working the register. I think we travelers forget that not everywhere runs on the 24/7 hustle schedule we're used to back home. Honestly though, I've had better luck just booking a hostel or Airbnb with a decent common area and working there. It's usually quiet and nobody bothers you as long as you're not loud.
