Warning: Got locked out of my bank account while in Thailand for 2 weeks

I was in Chiang Mai last month and my bank flagged a $45 transaction at a local market as fraud. They froze my card and wanted me to call a US number to verify, but my phone plan doesn't do international calls. Took 3 days of emailing back and forth with support to get it unfrozen. Has anyone else dealt with a bank that doesn't work well overseas?
