That "always work from coworking spaces" advice I got was completely wrong for me

A guy on here named Tim told me 6 months ago that working from hostels or cafes would kill my productivity. Said I had to pay for a $200/month coworking membership in Chiang Mai to stay focused. I tried it for 3 weeks and honestly I got more distracted by people chatting and networking events. Now I work from my hostel bed with noise cancelling headphones and get 6 hours of solid work done before noon. Anyone else find that expensive coworking spaces are actually worse for deep focus?

Dude, same. I spent a whole month at this coworking spot in Medellin that was supposed to be the best for focus. I was paying $250 a month and all I did was watch the clock until my lunch break and ended up chatting with people from the states instead of coding. Now I just sit in my room at the hostel, fan on, door closed, and I get way more done. Seriously, that advice about needing a dedicated workspace is not a one size fits all thing.

Is the fan really that crucial or is that just part of the mental setup? Feels like you could probably get the same work done in any quiet corner, but maybe I'm missing the magic of it.
