Lost my WiFi in a coffee shop in Bali right before a client call

I was in Canggu at this little place called Satu-Satu, feeling all productive. My laptop suddenly lost the WiFi signal and I had this big video call with a client in 5 minutes... I grabbed my phone and used it as a hotspot instead, but the connection was super shaky. The call dropped twice before I gave up and just switched to audio only, which actually worked fine. Has anyone else had to scramble like that in the middle of nowhere?

Hate that feeling, my heart rate goes up just reading this. Did pretty much the same thing at a coworking space in Lisbon last month, audio saved me too. Nothing worse than scrambling for signal right before you have to look professional.

@stellat87 I actually think the scramble is kind of part of the fun now. Like yeah it's stressful in the moment but it forces you to get creative. Last week I gave a presentation from a coffee shop bathroom because the wifi died, just audio only and honestly it went way better than if I'd had video. Nobody cared because I kept it moving and sounded prepared. The hunt for signal makes you appreciate the good connections more, you know?
