My blog's traffic jumped 40% in a month after I changed one thing about my headlines.

I stopped using 'how-to' and started using 'why' questions, like 'Why Your Email List Isn't Growing'. Some say this 'curiosity gap' is cheap, but I think it just frames the problem better. What's your take on headline formulas now?

It's the same reason news sites use "What we know" instead of just reporting facts. They're not just selling information, they're selling the feeling of being in the loop. Your 'why' headline promises a reason, and people hate not knowing the reason.

Sounds cheap to me, like you're just tricking people into clicking.
