Bought a $50 tape deck at a garage sale - dollar store cleaning tapes saved it
I found a Sony TC-WE475 at a yard sale for $50 last weekend. The belts were shot and it sounded like a dying cat. Grabbed a $3 tape head cleaning kit from the dollar store and ran it through 5 times and it actually plays smooth now. Has anyone else fixed dead audio gear with just cheap cleaning supplies?

Man these dollar store cleaning tapes are honestly underrated. I've revived like three different tape decks with them that people were about to toss in the trash lol. My brother spent $60 on some fancy cleaning kit from Amazon and mine from the dollar store worked way better honestly. Maybe it's just placebo but if the music plays right I'm not gonna argue with it.
