Debate: Light vs heavy photo editing in dead mall shots. Which tells the story better?

I've been hitting up dead malls around Ohio the last few months and I keep going back and forth on editing. On one hand, I took a shot of the abandoned food court at North Towne Mall in Columbus last Tuesday and left it raw - all the faded neon and chipped tile felt honest. But then I did a heavy color grade on a pic of the old arcade at Lima Mall and it looked moody like a movie scene. My buddy swears raw is the only way for documentation, but I feel like a little editing brings out the decay better. What do you all lean toward when you post your mall photos?

Are you trying to capture what the mall actually looked like or how it made you feel?

@xena_taylor64 I read somewhere that malls in the 80s were designed to feel like a fantasy.
