Had to choose between a paid password manager or keeping my spreadsheet

I used a text file on my desktop for 3 years for passwords because I didn't trust cloud storage. Last month it got corrupted during a crash and I lost 40 logins. Switched to Bitwarden for $10 a year and now I actually sleep better. Anybody else hold onto bad habits way too long?

Switched to LastPass free years ago and told myself I'd eventually organize my passwords properly. Just kept adding more and more to the same messy account with the same master password I used everywhere. Finally got hacked when someone guessed that password and I spent a whole weekend resetting 50 accounts. Learned my lesson real quick.

Wait, you used the SAME master password for LastPass that you used everywhere else? That is actually insane. I thought the whole point of a password manager was to have a single really strong master password that you don't use anywhere else. You basically turned the whole system into a single weak lock for everything. I can't imagine the panic of seeing that many accounts get popped at once. Fifty resets in a weekend sounds like a special kind of personal hell.
