The 25-word prompt exercise that fixed my bloated openings

So I was stuck on a scene for like two weeks. The first page just felt like a dump of backstory and weather. Then I saw someone on a writing sub suggest boiling your entire prompt down to 25 words before you even start. Tried it with a noir piece set in Duluth. The original opening took three paragraphs to say anything. The compressed version forced me to pick ONE image and ONE tension point. Now the first line reads like a hook instead of a museum label. Anybody else tried a word cap on their prompt prep? Does it work for longer projects or just shorts?
