Pro tip: that free couch on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie taught me to always bring a tape measure
Drove 40 minutes out to grab a "gently used" sectional listed for free last Saturday. Got there and the thing was 9 feet long, way too big for my Civic, and the guy just shrugged and said "you didn't ask." Ended up paying $20 for a U-Haul van and $15 in gas, so my free couch cost me $35. Now I message sellers for dimensions before I even leave the driveway. Anyone else get burned by a "free" listing that wasn't actually free?

Ha, sounds like that couch came with a hidden delivery fee. $35 for a free couch is still cheaper than a gym membership, so at least you got a workout hauling it.
