Drove 2 hours to buy a "gently used" kayak, and the guy had sawed it in half to make a bookshelf

So this happened a few weeks back and I still can't stop thinking about it. I found a listing in a town about 90 minutes away for a 10 foot kayak, $150, and the photos looked totally fine, blue hull, couple scuffs, nothing weird. I messaged the guy, he said "no holes, ready for the water, my loss is your gain" and I loaded up my truck and drove out there on a Saturday morning. I get to his driveway and there's the kayak sitting there, except it's cut clean across the middle, like literally sliced with a saw, and the two halves are propped up on cinder blocks in his garage with little shelves screwed into them. I just stood there with my mouth open and asked him what happened. He goes "oh yeah, I turned it into a display shelf, way more useful this way, I just never updated the pics." I did not buy it obviously, but I did waste 3 hours and a tank of gas to look at arts and crafts. Has anybody else driven out for something and found it completely Frankensteined into something else, because I need to know this isn't just me.
