A rigger in Houston told me to stop watching the load and watch the outriggers instead, and it stuck with me
I was setting steel on a job off I-10 about 3 months back and this older rigger named Ray kept waving me off on my swing. I got annoyed and asked what he was seeing, and he said I was eyeballing the load the whole time instead of watching my pads sink on the soft side. He pointed at a footprint about 2 inches deeper than the rest and said that's the only thing that will actually tip you here. I've been checking pads first on every soft ground setup since then. Anyone else had an older hand point out something that obvious that you'd been missing?
