Vent: a color correction on a bleached brassy client snowballed into 3 hours and 20 minutes
Client came in with box dye brass from a drugstore kit and I figured 90 minutes tops with a toner and a good cut. Nope, the mids grabbed way too dark on the first try so I had to strip it back with a gentle cleanse and redo the whole thing section by section. By hour two I was mixing a second batch and praying the ends didn't fry, and the client kept checking her phone while I sweat through my apron. Walked out at 3 hours and 20 minutes with a decent ash blonde, but I charged her base rate because I felt bad. How do you all quote for surprise box dye jobs without scaring clients off?
