Shoutout to the plastic cap method over foils for short hair, saved me 25 minutes on a Monday appointment
Had a client named Dana with a chin length bob who wanted partial highlights and I used to dread foiling short hair because the pieces slip and you fight the paper. One of the older stylists at my salon in Boise told me to try clear plastic wrap instead of foils on shorter cuts, and I finally tested it on her two visits ago. The wrap sticks to itself so the sections stay put, I can see the lift through the plastic without opening anything, and I checked her at 30 minutes with no bleed marks. Foiling that same bob used to eat up 45 minutes of my slot, and with the wrap I was done placing in about 20. Only catch is you have to wipe the sections dry first or the wrap slides, which I learned the hard way on the first try. Anyone else using plastic on short cuts, and do you still check every 10 minutes or trust the timer?
