My mentor Jean swore by sectioning hair into 12 parts, not 8

I thought she was being dramatic and wasting time. Took me 6 months of fighting with uneven layers before I tried her method. Now I spend 5 extra minutes on sectioning and save 20 minutes on blow drying. Has anyone else had a weirdly specific habit from a senior stylist that turned out to be gold?

Started sectioning my hair into 12 parts about a year ago after fighting with my layers for months. It's crazy how something so small can change everything... you spend a few more minutes upfront but it saves so much time and frustration later. I've noticed this pattern in other stuff too, like organizing my tools. I used to just grab whatever comb or brush was closest, but now I keep everything in a specific order and it saves me from hunting for things mid-cut. Same with mixing color, I measure everything out precise instead of eyeballing it. It's like that old saying about measure twice cut once, you know? Once you figure out that the extra step is actually the shortcut, you never go back.

Started sectioning my hair into 12 parts too and it cut my drying time in half.
