Just realized I've done 3,000 cuts and still screw up the same layer
I was cleaning out my station the other day and found my old appointment book from when I started. Out of curiosity I added up every haircut I've done over the 8 years since graduation. The total came to 3,147 haircuts, which honestly shocked me. But here's the thing - last Tuesday I had a client ask for a simple layered bob, and I still had to redo the top layer twice because I couldn't get the angle right. Has anyone else hit a big number like this and realized you still struggle with basics?

3,000 cuts over 8 years is about 375 a year, which comes out to like 7 or 8 cuts a week. That's actually a pretty slow pace for a pro barber, but it makes sense if you're not in a high volume shop. I've been cutting for 12 years and I'm closer to 12,000, and I still have days where I mess up a basic layer. The problem is that layered bobs are way harder than they look, especially on fine hair where every angle shows. So yeah, you're not alone, but that number might feel bigger than it actually is for your experience level.
