Had a client cry during a toner application last Tuesday...

I was doing a gloss treatment on a regular at my chair in Milwaukee and she just started tearing up halfway through. Turned out she had been using box dye for 15 years and nobody ever told her there was a gentler option for her grays. It really hit me how much trust people put in us without even knowing what questions to ask. Does anyone else get clients who are shocked to learn there's an alternative to drugstore color?

Is crying over hair toner really that deep though?

Honestly @eric_johnson, I think it depends on the person. My friend dropped $90 on a custom toner at a salon in Austin and it turned her hair straight up green right before her wedding shower. She cried for like an hour, lol. Hair stuff hits different when you've been saving up for months and it goes sideways. Toner is one of those things that feels simple but one wrong move and you're stuck with it for weeks.
