The bakery owner who remembered my dad's usual order
My dad used to grab a molasses cookie and black coffee at Gustav's on Grand Ave every Saturday for like 15 years. He passed in 2021, and I stopped by a few months later just to sit. The owner, Frank, came over and said 'Still the same for your dad? I'll put it on the house today.' He hadn't asked my name, just knew who I was because I looked like him. Places like that with real memories are why I keep hunting for spots that have been there forever. Anyone else have a shop owner who remembers a family member's order without being told?
