Wasted $40 on a 'vintage web directory' ebook that turned out to be a list of dead links
Bought a PDF called 'The Lost Internet Goldmine' off a guy on Reddit for $40 and every single one of the 200 sites in it was parked or expired except a GeoCities page for someone's ferret that only loads on Internet Explorer. Has anyone found a forum or wiki that actually keeps track of old sites that are still live?
Did you also get the bonus "secret" list that was just three links to archive.org pages? I fell for something like that last year with a $25 "dead mall photo index" that was mostly broken Angelfire links and one GeoCities shrine to a parking garage. The Wayback Machine is free and way better, so save your money and just dig through that instead.
