Paid $19 for a one year membership to a site that just catalogs other dead sites, and it somehow outlived the forum that recommended it
Back in 2019 I dropped $19 on a year of access to a tiny directory called LinkRot that only did one thing, list other old sites that still loaded, and the dude running it updated it by hand maybe twice a month. The site itself went dark in 2021, but I found a mirror of it last Tuesday and I've been clicking through the 400 or so links it froze in place, a good chunk of which still work. $19 for a directory of dead links that is now itself a dead link feels like the most honest $19 I've ever spent, so what's the weirdest site you've paid actual cash for that no longer exists?
