Hit 500 unique visitors on my personal site last month - it used to be a dead zone

I run a small blog about fixing old computers from the 90s. For years it was just me and maybe 10 people a month looking at it. Then out of nowhere I checked my stats in November and saw 500 hits in 30 days. Turns out someone on a retro computing forum linked to my page about fixing a dead IBM 5150. Has anyone else had a random backlink revive their forgotten site like that?

Oh man, "used to be a dead zone" - that hit home. My buddy runs a tiny site about fixing pinball machines from the 80s. He was getting like 5 hits a month if he was lucky, basically just his mom checking in. Then some random YouTube video about a beat-up old pinball table mentioned his guide on cleaning corroded contacts. Suddenly he's getting 300+ visits a week out of nowhere. People just started finding his site and sharing it on forums and social media. He said it felt like winning a weird lottery that nobody told him he entered. The wild part is it all came from one tiny link in a video description that someone probably typed out in 30 seconds.
