TIL the flat earth guy at my library meetup brought 40 pages of math, and we spent 3 hours just arguing about whether the horizon test even counts | Conspiracy Debates - Pinecone Attack
40 pages of math for something you can test with a pair of binoculars and a boat is wild. The horizon test does count, but here's the thing people miss: it only proves the earth curves if you also control for stuff like eye height and air bending light over water. Those two things alone can fake a curve on a flat plane, and they can also hide a real one. So the guy probably wasn't totally wrong to push on it, he just went way too hard for three hours. That meetup sounds like it needed a snack break and a whiteboard.
