That time I tried the 'parking lot test' on a used furnace and caught a leak before buying

There's a bigger pattern here that most people miss when buying used stuff. Everybody gets hypnotized by the big ticket items like the furnace or the car engine, but the real problems are almost always in the little connections and seals. I've seen so many people bring home a used washer that looks perfect, only to find out the drain hose is cracked or the door gasket is rotted out. The parking lot test is smart because it forces you to focus on the parts that actually fail, not just the parts that look good from the outside.

Are people even checking the rubber hoses on those parking lot deals?
