That moon landing skeptic in the hardware store got me to flip

I was grabbing PVC pipe for a job in Phoenix and this older guy starts arguing that the Apollo photos have no stars, which I always thought was a slam dunk. He pointed out the lunar surface reflects like a beach at noon, so the cameras were set for daylight and the stars just got washed out, and I suddenly realized I never actually checked that myself. Has anyone else had a debate where the 'obvious' proof turned out to be something you only repeated from memory?
