Update: that 3 year old slab in Fort Worth I poured with a 4 inch slump is still holding up with zero cracks
Drove past the job site last Tuesday and the homeowner came out to tell me the only guy who bid lower wanted a 7 inch slump and I said no, so now I'm wondering how many of you have watched a wet mix fail while the stiff one sat pretty?

What was the actual spec on that Fort Worth pour, like was it just a driveway or something with more load on it? I've seen 7 inch slump stuff spider crack within a month on a patio pour, and the crew swore it was the mix design when really they just finished it too fast in the heat. Did the low bidder ever come back around that job after to see how yours turned out? Curious if the homeowner told him too, that would be a fun conversation. And did you do anything different on the cure side since it was stiff, like extra wet burlap or a cure and seal? The slump number matters but I keep seeing guys blame that when it's really the finishing and curing that got skipped.
