Troweled a 400 sq ft patio with a cheap magnesium float and it was a nightmare

I bought a $12 float from the hardware store last week instead of my usual Marshalltown and the thing left drag marks everywhere no matter what angle I used. Took me 45 extra minutes to burnish out the lines before the crew even finished the control joints. Anyone else find that cheap floats just don't hold up compared to the higher end ones?

Yeah, $12 floats are brutal, they just don't glide smooth.

@faith_schmidt I actually prefer cheap floats after wetting and breaking them in for 20 minutes first.
